Combine two materials in one product!

The latest engineered materials have opened up thousands of new product opportunities. Our patented overmolding technology delivers improved component performance. Our thorough knowledge of thermoplastic materials, combined with the most advanced processing procedures, has enabled us to improve plastic manufacturing techniques and products.

Improved component performance is exactly what our patented overmolding technology delivers.
(U.S. Patents 5,529,743; 5,682,924 & 6,041,824)

The initial phase of overmolding produces a single air induction part by combining a rigid blow molded air duct with injection molded flexible cuff ends.

Dual Process™ Phase One Benefits:

  • Costs Start Saving Now -- Contact Steere!reduced by 25%*.
  • Leak-free seals, molded to exact tolerances,
eliminate the need for secondary reaming.
  • Reduced part weight.
  • Simplified assembly process.
  • One-piece design enables trouble-free field servicing.

* Percentage based on comparison of prior air duct design.

Phase Two

Joining of two individual parts, each of different materials.

The second phase of our injection overmolding technology was developed to join two individual parts; each composed of a different material. The result is one continuous assembly, with a durable, leak-free union of the multiple parts.

This patented Dual Process Overmolding Process has many advantages that can improve performance and cut costs!

Dual Process™ Phase Two Benefits:

  • Ability to join chemically dissimilar materials, not possible with co-extrusion.
  • Temperature resistant materials are placed only in the area(s) required for functionality.
  • A patented joint for the bellows-to-duct connections. This provides a reliable seal and precise control of the joint position.
  • Reduced part weight.
  • Economical one-piece assembly.
  • Molded, leak free seals eliminate secondary reaming and chip removal processes.
